2003 MIAC Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week
March 4, 2003
Track - Augsburg College first-year Alanna Carter (St. Paul, Minn./Central HS) ran an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 7.30 in the 55 meters at the Ole Open. She also was the lead leg in Augsburg's school record 800 meter relay run of 1:48.13, and placed second in the open 200 meters in 26.54.
Field - Gustavus Adolphus College sophomore Kristi Schneider (Hastings, Minn.) won the pole vault at the Carleton Co-Ed Meet Friday night with a nationally provisional qualifying jump of 11' 1/4".

Track - College of Saint Benedict senior Molly Miller (Stillwater, Minn.) ran 8.56 in the 55 M hurdles at the St. Ben’s Macalester Dual Meet. Her time leads the MIAC, is an NCAA provisional qualifying mark and currently ranks her 10th nationally.
Field - Gustavus Adolphus College junior Jackie Luehmann (Lewiston, Minn.) posted provisional qualifying marks in both the weight throw and the shot put last Saturday at the U of Minnesota Open to earn her 2nd MIAC Athlete of the Week honors this month.

Track - St. Olaf College senior Megan Daymont (Northfield, Minn.) earns her second MIAC athlete of the week honor for her 2:11.95 performance in the 800 meter run at the Border Battle meet hosted at St. Olaf College this past Saturday. Daymont's time is an automatic NCAA qualifying time and currently ranks #1 in the country. This is a new school record and the fastest indoor 800 time ever run in the MIAC.
Field - University of St. Thomas junior Karolien Bastiens (Wayzata, Minn.) vaulted 3.66 (12'0") to win the Border Battle pole vault event this past Saturday at St. Olaf College. Bastiens performance is an automatic NCAA qualifier, ranking her 2nd in the nation and is also a MIAC record.

Track - Carleton College senior Laura Bloedorn (Lakeville, Minn.) ran the 5,000 meters at the Carleton Invitational on Friday Feb. 7th in a time of 17:36.74. Bloedorn's performance is an NCAA Provisional Mark and currently ranks her 8th in the country in this event.
Field - Concordia College senior Kelli Tranby (Moorhead, Minn.) jumped 17'10.75" in the long jump at the NDSU Bison Open in Fargo on Sat., Feb. 8. Her conference leading performance in the long jump is an NCAA provisional mark.

Track - Augsburg College first-year runner Tonnisha Bell (Minneapolis, Minn. / Washburn HS) ran an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 7.31 and won the 55 meter dash at the UW-Stout Invitational. That mark currently ranks 10th nationally and is also an Augsburg school record.
Field - Gustavus Adolphus College junior Jackie Luehmann (Lewiston, Minn.) threw the shot 43' 5.75" and the weight 47' 5.75" at the Gustavus Invite last Thursday. Both performances are Provisional National Qualifying marks.

Track - St. Olaf College senior Megan Daymont (Northfield, Minn.) raced to two national qualifying times at the St. Olaf Triangular on Friday, January 24th. Daymont's time of 2:17.94 in the 800 M is the nation's top performance of the year, and her time of 4:40.84 for 1500 Meters places her third among the nation's best at this point in the season. These races were run less than one hour apart in the first track and field meet held at St. Olaf in the new Tostrud Center.
Field - Saint Mary's University first-year Megan Mason (Rochester, Minn./Rochester Century) won the pole vault at the Saint Mary's Quintangular Meet on Saturday, January 25th. Her vault of 3.07 m (10' 3/4") is a new school record and leads the MIAC in for performance in the pole vault. In addition to the pole vault event, she was second in the high jump and second in the 55 meter hurdles.

Track - Augsburg College first-year runner Tonnisha Bell (Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn HS) ran 7.92 in the 60 meter dash at the Minnesota Open (.05 off a provisional NCAA qualifier). It was Bell's first collegiate meet ever and an Augsburg school record.
Field - University of St. Thomas senior Jill Ylonen (Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park HS) jumped 17 feet at the Falcon Early Bird Meet hosted by UW-River Falls to earn the MIAC Field Event weekly honor.
