St. Paul, Minn. -- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced the 2008 MIAC Volleyball Awards today, November 5, 2008. Leading the 18-player All-Conference team is University of St. Thomas senior middle blocker Katie McCaffrey. A two-time All-MIAC honoree, McCaffrey was named the conference's Player of the Year after leading the MIAC in hitting percentage, kills, and blocks.

Gustavus Adolphus senior libero Emily Klein was named the MIAC Defensive Player of the Year. This was the third Defensive Player of the Year award for Klein. Concordia College first-year outside hitter Jenna Green was honored as MIAC Rookie of the Year.

St. Thomas head coach Thanh Pham received the MIAC Coach of the Year award. Pham's Tommies went 11-0 in conference play for the second consecutive season and earned the #1 seed in the MIAC Playoffs.

As part of a conference-wide sportsmanship initiative, the MIAC announced the third annual All-MIAC Sportsmanship team for Volleyball. Members of the All-MIAC Sportsmanship team are selected by their coaches and teammates as individuals who demonstrate ideals of positive sportsmanship both on and off the field of competition.
