MIAC Football: Co-Offensive Player of the Week
Gustavus Adolphus College senior quarterback Jordan Becker (Easton, Minn./Blue Earth Area) turned in the finest performance of his career as he completed 26-of-41 passes for 310 yards and five touchdowns with no interceptions to help the Gusties defeat Pacific Lutheran 34-33 on Saturday in St. Peter. Becker clinched the victory with a one-yard TD pass to Elliott Herdina with 12 seconds left in regulation play. With Gustavus trailing 33-22 in the fourth quarter, Becker completed 8-of-11 passes in the team's final two drives including two touchdown passes to allow the Gusties to rally for the victory. Becker's five touchdown passes in a game was one short of the school record of six held by Bob Southworth.
MIAC Football: Co-Offensive Player of the Week
Augsburg College sophomore quarterback Marcus Brumm (Lakeville, Minn./South) contributed 368 yards of total offense in leading Augsburg to a 31-28 win over Carleton. Brumm completed 19-of-31 passes for 206 yards and a touchdown, while also rushing for 162 yards on 21 carries with two touchdowns -- a 7-yard run in the first quarter and a 77-yard rush in the third quarter. The 162 yards was the most for Augsburg in a single game since the 2004 season. A transfer from Minnesota State-Mankato, Brumm is currently averaging 340.4 yards of total offense per-game -- a total tops among MIAC players in overall statistics by 87 yards per-game over the second-place total. He is also leading the conference in passing, with a 295.0 yards-per-game average.
MIAC Football: Defensive Player of the Week
Bethel University junior inside linebacker Ross Petterson (Maple Grove, Minn./Osseo) was a major defensive factor in Bethel's 15-7 win over St. Olaf on Saturday. Petterson led the team in tackles with 10 (five solo, five assists), broke up three passes, and had one of the biggest defensive plays of the game by intercepting the Oles on first down and goal at the Bethel 3-yard line and returning it 35 yards with less than two minutes remaining, thus preserving the lead. Petterson is the overall team leader in tackles and ranks among the top 20 defensive players in the conference for tackles.
MIAC Football: Special Teams Player of the Week
University of St. Thomas senior kicker Brady Beeson (Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley) was 4-for-4 in PATs and kicked a 31-yard field goal in Saturday's 31-17 win over Concordia. It was the first collegiate field goal for the first-year starter, who began his career at Saint John's. Beeson has converted 25-of-26 PATs in the Tommies' 5-0 start. St. Thomas plays next Saturday at St. John's in a meeting of nationally-ranked, unbeaten teams. UST's seven-game win streak is the fourth longest in Division III.
