Four women, four men earn Cross Country All-American status

St. Paul, Minn. -- Four women's runners and four men's runners from the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) earned All-American status with their performances on Saturday at 2009 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships. The race was hosted by Baldwin-Wallace College at Highland Hills Golf Course in Highland Hills, Ohio.

In the women's race, defending NCAA Champion Marie Borner, a senior from Bethel (Cottage Grove, Minn./Park), placed second in a time of 21:45. Carleton sophomore Simone Childs-Walker (Seattle, Wash./Lakeside) finished in 11th with a time of 22:27. Carleton teammate Laura Roach (Lakeville, Minn./North) was 25th, finishing in 22:39. The final women's All-American from the MIAC was Hamline's Margot Branigan (Roseville, Minn.), who placed 32nd with a time of 22:48.

Bethel senior Dan Greeno (St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville) led the MIAC Men's All-Americans, finishing 10th with a time of 25:41. The next MIAC runner was St. Olaf junior Dobuol Ruon (Northfield, Minn.) placing 24th with a time of 25:59. St. Thomas' Ben Sathre (Chaska, Minn.) and Hamline's Ian Bauer (Roseville, Minn.) finished 26th and 27th respectively to also earn All-American status.

In the women's team competition, Carleton was 11th with a total team score of 357 and St. Olaf was 27th with a score of 557. On the men's side, St. Thomas was 19th with 466 points, St. Olaf was 21st with 477 points, and Hamline was 23rd with 496 points.
