2007 MIAC Women's Swimming and Diving Championship Preview
Eleven teams are set to compete for the coveted MIAC Women's Swimming & Diving Championship this weekend, February 15-17. The annual showcase of the best swimmers and divers in the MIAC will once again be held at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center. The MIAC Championships are traditionally known for spirited competition, great sportsmanship, and a one-a-kind atmosphere.

St. Olaf will enter the 2007 Championships looking to capture their third consecutive MIAC crown, but the Oles will face stiff competition in 2007. Carleton defeated St. Olaf on February 3rd in a dual meet and the Knights should have the depth to contend for the title. Gustavus will also be in the running as the Gusties beat Carleton, but were edged by St. Olaf in duals. Saint Benedict, Macalester, St. Thomas, and Hamline all have talented individuals and improved depth that will be relied upon in order for their respective teams to make a move up in the conference standings. While St. Catherine, Concordia, Saint Mary's, and Augsburg plan to use the experience gained in the dual meet season to improve their results from 2006.

Returning MIAC individual event champions include: Gustavus junior Sara Pfau (200 Individual Medley); Carleton junior Jen Gratz (50 Freestyle); St. Olaf senior Mikayla Meyer (200 Freestyle); Saint Benedict junior Kaelly Simpson (200 Breastroke); and Carleton sophomore Becky Alexander (100 Freestyle).
