Concordia College senior Heather Schuster (Grafton, N.D./Minto) was selected MIAC Women’s Outstanding Track Athlete as she won both the 800 meter and 1,500 meter races at the 2007 MIAC Outdoor Championships. Schuster won the 1,500 with a NCAA provisional qualifying and stadium record time of 4:33.55. She also added the victory in the 800 with a time of 2:15.76.
University of St. Thomas junior Selina Dehn (St. Louis Park, Minn.) was selected MIAC Women's Outstanding Field Athlete and received the honor of MIAC Outstanding Performance. Dehn broke the meet record in the triple jump with a mark of 39-3 3/4 (11.98m) which was also provisionally qualified her for the NCAA Championships. Dehn added a second place in the long jump with a 17-4 3/4 (5.30m) and a sixth place in the high jump with a height of 5-2 1/2 (1.59m).
Coach of the Year
Tom Thorkelson of Gustavus Adolphus College was selected women’s MIAC Outdoor Coach of the Year. The Gustavus women, led by Thorkelson, finished second at the 2007 MIAC Championships.
