College of Saint Benedict SAAC and St. John’s University SAAC teamed up yet again for the 5th Annual SAAC Formal. This year’s fundraiser collected $1545 for the Special Olympics Minnesota Chapter, beating their goal of $1500. A total of 300 guests participated in the dinner dance, which was held in the Gorecki Dining and Conference Center for the first time.
Sophomore Emma Jaynes was proud to see the results of SAAC’s hard work. “The 5th Annual dance was a huge success! Planning and decorating were a bit hectic at times, but it came together in the end and the outcome was great! It was awesome seeing such a large room entirely full of athletes. It made me feel proud to be a Blazer and to see that I share that bond with so many others.”
Fellow sophomore Andrea Millerbernd also recognized the greatness of Blazer Athletics at this event. “It was amazing being in a room with so many college athletes. To know that this entire night was put on for athletes, it really makes me proud to be a part of something as special as Blazer Athletics!!”
This event was event chaired by junior CJ Swanlund, CSB SAAC Officer and member of the golf team along with CSB SAAC Co-Advisor Dot Hanna. SJU SAAC representative Trent Novotny also assisted with planning and preparations. SAAC would like to extend a special thank you to Student Activities for the dance floor rental and to all those who helped with this spectacular event.
