2006 MIAC Men's Cross Country Championships
Saint John's captures team championship, Hamline's Bristow takes individual title at 2006 MIAC Championships
St. Paul, Minn. - Saint John's University captured it's first MIAC Cross Country team title since 1999 on Saturday afternoon at Como Park Golf Course. Saint John's used a total team effort to capture the title; they placed five runners in the top 12 individuals. The Johnnies beat out reigning MIAC champion Hamline by six points to earn Saint John's 14th overall team title. Following Saint John's and Hamline was Carleton with 96 points, Macalester with 145 points, and Bethel rounded out the top five with 154 points.
Individually, Hamline University senior Travis Bristow placed first in the men's race with a time of 26:02.52 over the eight kilometer course. Following Bristow was Saint John's junior Mitch Van Bruggen who ran the course in 26:09.12. Hamline runners Chris Yotter and Dan Steinbrecher finished third and fourth. While Saint John's runners Kelly Fermoyle and Chris Erichsen placed fifth and sixth.
