Day 3 Recap:

St. John's had four of the top seven individual finishers to win its third straight Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) championship and sixth in eight years. The Johnnies posted a 294 team score on the third and final day of competition at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids to finish with a three-round total of 877 – well clear of co-runners-up Augsburg and Gustavus (each with 901).

Joe Schoolmeesters of St. John's led the tournament after each day and finished with a 72 Monday to post a two-under-par 214 to claim top individual honors. Erik Tone of Gustavus shot a last round 70 to move up into second place on the final leader board with a par 216. SJU's Andrew Longbella placed third overall with a 217 score.

Schoolmeesters and Longbella were joined on the leader board by SJU teammates Clinton Dammann (sixth with a 224) and Matt Bohlig (seventh at 225). The Johnnies won the championship by a comfortable 24 strokes.

Gustavus had three All-MIAC golfers: runner-up Tone (216), fifth-place player Jordan Hawkinson (223) and ninth-place finisher Eric Harris (226). Augsburg had a couple all-conference players: fourth-place finisher Andrew Johnson (220) and seventh-place finisher Erik Helgerson (225).

This was the first year the MIAC used a three-round format after playing two-day tournaments in previous years.

Day 2 Recap:
St. John's had four players score 74 or below to pull away to a commanding 18 stroke lead over Gustavus after the second of three days at the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) men's golf championships at Bunker Hills in Coon Rapids.

SJU's Joe Schoolmeesters posted his second straight 71 and maintained a two-stroke lead over teammate Andrew Longbella, who also scored 71. Schoolmeesters brings a two-under-par 142 heading into Monday's third and final round, which begins at 9 a.m. tomorrow at Bunker Hills. Longbella is two strokes back and even with par with a 144.

Going for their third straight MIAC crown and sixth in eight years, the Johnnies have a 583 team score on rounds of 294 and 289. Gustavus Adolphus posted 303 and 298 scores, but its 601 is well back. Third-place Augsburg (606 points) is well clear of fourth-place St. Thomas (618).

The Johnnies boast four of the top eight players, all with scores of 151 and below. The top challengers to SJU's Schoolmeesters and Longbell for the individual championship are a pair of Gustavus golfers with 146 scores: Jordan Hawkinson and Erik Tone. Hawkinson led all players Sunday with a 70 on the 6,901-yard course.

St. Thomas (306) and Concordia (306) are also in the picture.

Schoolmeesters has a two stroke lead over four players with 73 scores: Erik Tone and Eric Harris from Gustavus, Andrew Johnson from Augsburg and teammate Andrew Longbella.

St. John's had four of the top nine players Saturday. Schoolmeesters and Longbella were joined on the leader board by Clinton Dammann and Matt Bohlig with 75 scores.
